Baby’s first vehicle should memorable and Santa suggests a tricycle that grows with your child.  The Joovy Tricycoo  is top of his list for first wheel presents this holiday season! The Tricycoo is simple and perfect for very young babies. Your child does not need to steer, pedal or balance on their own in the beginning.  They simply enjoy the fun and independence of their first tricycle while you guide them with the parent push handle (removable).   When engaged, the parent push handle overrides the steering on the Tricycoo. The surround arms help them learn to balance and give you confidence that they won’t fall out.  The pedals can be easily ‘turned off’ until they are ready to ‘kid power’ the Tricycoo on their own. As they gain confidence, the Tricycoo surround arms and parent handle can be removed for independent tricycling fun!

Santa’s tip: Get yours early. They sold out last year!

The Pata Quads Take on Bike Riding with the Joovy Bicycoo!

Hi Doodie,

I wanted to share some pictures with you. We gave the balance bikes to the Quads for Christmas, but they were still to little for them and couldn’t quite touch the floor yet. So we kept them in our living room until they could get the hang of them and reach the ground (softer landing when they fell over on to carpet). Well, four months later and we are riding machines outside. They love the bikes. It has been hard for me to get a picture of all 4 on the bikes at the same time.  Usually its one or two, so I finally got a picture of all four last week and have to share with you.

Enjoy and thanks again!!!

– Kari Pata (aka ‘mom’)

Thank you Joovy for blessing us with these great gifts for our quadruplets!  Great product from a great company.

Bicycoo and Balance Bike Training

This just in from a very happy mom who has had great success with teaching her very young children how to ride a bike with the Bicycoo.

Dear Joovy,
Your balance bikes are amazing. My daughter just turned 4 and has just transitioned to her big girl bike. It took about 30 min for her to learn the pedals and she was off! Everyone who sees her is amazed, she is so tiny. I am so in love with the balance bike, it gave her so much confidence and coordination. My 2 year old is also riding his Joovy BMX, and I feel he is already ready for a pedal bike as well, I am going to give him just a couple more months and than let him transition as well! Thank you so much for the amazing bikes. I can not say enough about them! I wish I could send video, you guys would be amazed.

Balance Bike: Bicycoo and a Boy

There’s nothing like first wheels!  When if comes to learning to ride a bike, a balance bike is the best bet for learning with confidence.

The Joovy Bicycoo offers a stable and robust foundation for taking the first step towards bicycle riding.  As soon as your child can straddle the frame, they are old enough to start balancing.  The beauty of this approach is that they’ll master balancing first and then naturally be ready for the next step: pedaling.  It makes sense to isolate one skill before introducing the next.

Should you decide this is the better way to teach your child to ride a bike, we’d love for you to consider our Bicycoo pictured here with Paul. He looks pretty happy today!

Balancing Your Child’s Way to Ride a Bike – Balance Bikes

When is it time to introduce your child to a two-wheeler bike?

Some parents are doing this as soon as their children start to walk!  Yes, the newest way to build your child’s confidence and get them ready to ride a two-wheeler on their own is to get them on a balance bike – a bike without pedals.

The idea may sound a bit farfetched for some, but the idea is catching on FAST!  It’s likely that you have seen these awesome little balance bikes in your neighborhood or at the park.  Kids straddle the seat and power these bikes with their feet as they scoot along, totally in control.  It is not surprising then, to see them learn quickly how to balance and gain confidence in themselves and the idea of riding their bike on their own.

Balance bikes have been popular in Europe for some time and are growing in popularity in the US because of their practical approach to teaching children how to ride bikes – one step at a time.  Mastering balance comes first.

For some, learning to ride a bike can be a daunting task. The idea of learning to balance and pedal at the same time is difficult, even for some adults.  Training wheels were introduced to buffer the challenge of learning two skills at once.  While this sounds like a reasonable way to learn, the reality is that training wheels can be counter-productive and introduce a false sense of confidence.   Children become dependent on these little wheels rather than mastering balance and coordination; essentials to successful bike riding.  Taking the wheels off can lead to defeat and frustration for the child as well as headache and exasperation for parents.

Rather than introducing training wheels just to take them away, it makes sense to leave them out of the equation altogether.  This makes it easier on parents too; less whining, skinned knees and bending over little bicycles.

Joovy thinks balance bikes are the coolest invention for kids and takes the hassle and headache out of teaching a child to ride a bike for mom and dad.  This fun and alternative method makes sense to many modern parents who love that their kids learn faster and in a more positive, confidence-building manner.  When kids learn on a balance bike, they are ready to try the two-wheeler having already mastered the balance part of the equation.

Check out the new Joovy Bicycoo balance bikes for kids 3 years and above.  Kids start slowly by walking over their bike, and before long, they are zipping along at their own pace, full of confidence and independence.

This puts a smile on our face.  Balance baby, balance!
